Award winning filmmaker Walter Schlomann will share his expertise on how to create a family video biography at the Jewish Genealogical Society of Tampa Bay meeting, Sunday, June 14 at 2 PM at Gulf Coast Jewish Family Services, 14041 Icot Blvd., Clearwater, Florida. A social with refreshments and library access begins at 1:30 PM, and the featured program starts at 2:00 PM.

Learn how to create a priceless family heirloom. In this last session before our summer break, Walter Schlomann will share his filmmaking expertise in producing video biographies – just in time for you to meet with relatives over the summer and begin documenting your own family history. Storytelling and oral history have contributed to our survival as a people.

Schlomann is an accomplished video editor, director and producer of independent films, documentaries, and other video media who has edited programs on PBS, TV Land, History Channel, Biography Channel, and Comedy Central, and who has collaborated on projects with Rock stars such as Michael Stipe and Cyndi Lauper. He has filmed helicopter action scenes in the Australian Outback, directed Scotty of Star Trek fame on a wild aerial ride through New York, and even worked with mermaids, crocs, and kangaroos. He has interviewed actors, artists, CEOs, physicians, scientists, veterans, educators, holocaust survivors, philanthropists, and entrepreneurs.
