Dunedin Senior Hall of Fame

Screen Shot 2017-05-23 at 10.36.33 PMIt was an honor to be the keynote speaker at the Dunedin Senior Hall of Fame ceremony last week. To be amongst all the volunteers and people who devote their time and resources to help others. The theme this year is Age Out Loud: Express Yourself, Advocate, and Inspire. Letting others know your story via a legacy video is certainly one way to Age Out Loud. Here’s a link to an excerpt: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=79CeS1fCtuo

WHY THE TIME IS NOW – TO RECORD YOUR FAMILY’S LEGACY VIDEO

WHY THE TIME IS NOW – TO RECORD YOUR FAMILY’S LEGACY VIDEO

A few years ago we filmed Mrs. H when she was 92 years old. It was an incredible experience as she spent 2 8-hour days recounting all the details of her life. Unfortunately she passed away a couple of years later, and this is the text I received from her son after I sent my condolences: “Thank you. I’m really glad we made that film.”

I was reminded of this text this week because I received an email from another client. We filmed her uncle a year and a half ago:

“I’ve been meaning to email you to let you know—we did the video just in time. Sadly, my uncle Isaac died in December, and his wife died just a few months earlier. Having the video has meant so much to his family.”

If you have any interest in preserving the stories and heritage of your family by creating a legacy video, the time to do it is now. I can’t tell you how many people I meet who tell me: “I wish I’d met you when my grandparents were still alive. They had so many stories…”

Legacy Video filmed in Palm Beach Gardens

Our latest legacy video, shot last week at Frenchman’s Creek, Palm Beach Gardens. Now the editing fun begins, with lots of topics and stories to include, ranging from street stickball games to a tryout with the Brooklyn Dodgers to eating at over 20 Michelin 3-star restaurants! Our video biographies are priceless gifts for future generations.20170119_102905

A Funny Video Biography Excerpt: The Calendar Date

This was an unusual family biography in that we filmed 3 brothers as they chatted and joked around the dining table. Our intent was to capture their family history through their ‘spontaneous’ conversations, and boy did they have lots of jokes and stories. The excerpt was posted on Youtube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MC4DSQtehlg) and Facebook and was picked up by israel video network, in their hilarious category http://www.israelvideonetwork.com/category/hilarious/ Screen Shot 2016-02-23 at 3.47.49 PM:

At the last seminar in which I shared tips in creating family biography videos, I asked everyone to hold their digital phones as if they were going to film me. About half held the phones in a vertical position.  A big no-no in my book -however, that may be the wave of the future.  Here’s a link to a NY Times article and a link to a great Glove and Boots video on the subject:      http://tinyurl.com/ojmef2h    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bt9zSfinwFA
